Internet and Sustainability Scenarios

Vancouver, Canada (March 26, 2009) — Big Room Co-founders Trevor Bowden and Jacob Malthouse joined a dialogue on “The Future of the Internet and Sustainable Development: Canadian Perspectives” hosted by the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD).

Participants from the public, non-profit, private, and technical sectors brainstormed the impacts of four scenarios around the future of the Internet and how they might impact sustainable development.

“It is clear that the Internet will continue to bring efficiency dividends to how we communicate, move goods, and manage energy” said Jacob. “Whether these dividends can be translated into a more sustainable society depends on the collaboration and planning of groups like the one that met today.”
