Big Room at High-level OECD Conference: ICTs, the Environment and Climate Change
Vancouver, Canada (28 May, 2009) — Big Room Co-founder Trevor Bowden was recently invited to present at the High-level OECD Conference on ICTs, the Environment and Climate Change.
Hosted by the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation on 27-28 May, the conference covered explored how Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) can “improve environmental performance
and mitigate climate change in all sectors of the economy”.
Big Room was featured in a session on “Fostering Sustainable Consumption and Use”, chaired by Ed Mayo (Consumer Focus). Drawing on colleague Anastasia O’Rourke’s work on venture capital and clean technology, Trevor spoke broadly on venture capital for sustainable consumption, and innovative ways that Big Room is using ICTs to help people make green choices.
Following the conference, Trevor noted, “With our work on the .eco top level domain and ecolabels, we’re very focused on how ICTs can be used as a platform for innovation — especially in terms of how we can provide better decision making tools — not just more information.”
